Delhi University admission process to undergraduate courses is set to begin from June 2, 2014. It was announced that the DU application forms 2014 will include an option to select preferred Colleges, a varsity official has announced now that Delhi University has made a decision to remove the college selection option from both its online and offline admission forms.
“There have been certain complaints in the past where student getting very high percentage have suffered because they chose just two-three colleges and once cut-offs were out, they failed to get admissions. To avoid such problem, the college selection option decision has been reconsidered,” J.M. Khurana, Delhi university’s dean of students’ welfare, told the media.
Choice of selecting a college in the Optical Mark Registration (OMR) form was removed last year after the varsity introduced a four year undergraduate programme (FYUP).
However, when the admission guidelines were introduced earlier this month, DU said students would be able to choose their colleges too.
There are 77 colleges under Delhi University.
“We have just simplified the process and made it easier for students so they do not face problem,” Malay Neerav, joint dean of students’ welfare and media coordinator at DU, said.
The application forms for DU undergraduate admissions will be available from June 2, 2014 and are to be submitted by June 16, 2014.
