Chetan Bhagat’s new novel ‘Half Girlfriend’ is available for booking @ Flipkart

India’s most widely read storyteller and popular among the masses Chetan Bhagat is back after a long gap with his latest novel ‘Half Girlfriend’.

The new novel is now open to booking on eCommerce website Flipkart. This novel is a love story set in the Bihar.

Flipkart has announced the pre-orders of the novel.

On Monday, Chetan Bhagat tweeted, “Tomo. New book announcement. Super excited. (sic)” He further added, “Thank you God for taking care of me so far. Leaving tomorrow in your hands.(sic)”.

The synopsis of the book on Flipkart’s advertisement in a national daily reads : “Once upon a time, there was a Bihari boy called Madhav. He fell in love with a girl called Riya. Madhav didn’t speak English well. Riya did. Madhav wanted a relationship. Riya didn’t. Riya just wanted friendship. Madhav didn’t. Riya suggested a compromise. She agreed to be his half-girlfriend.”

The IIM graduate-turned-author who started his career with Five Point Someone has delivered many bestsellers and is now a favourite with filmmakers as all of his books were adapted to films. His book Five Point Someone was made into the blockbuster film 3 Idiots, Three Mistakes of My Life to Kai Po Che and Two States as well has hit the screens early this year.

Bhagat has recently ventured into scriptwriting and has co-written Salman Khan’s superhit film Kick.

‘Half Girlfriend’ comes after a wait of three years as his last book Revolution 2020 was released in 2011.

However the news of pre-orders and teaser has attracted much criticism. Social media is abuzz with new Chetan Bhagat jokes!

  1. It makes a very good read. Ending was predictable. Twist that she was not sick was amazing. Oops Spoiler-alert. I’m big fan of happy endings. So was absolutely delighted to read this book.
